What Was It

It wasn’t the way she lied

when the moonlight touched her

carressed her cheek

and kissed her chin

It wasn’t the word he said

when his brow stiffened

from her grin

dawning the stain from yesteryear

It wasn’t the day that patronized the night

nor the winter stiffling the

spring as it waited for summer

It wasn’t the leaves that fell to the dew

Nor the mother that nature once knew

For it all

Came down

To

You.
